My Praise Songs 1
My Praise Songs 1
This is one of my earliest songs. This is the only song on my site that I'm not singing myself. It is sung by Tessa Pompa, a young lady who went to the private Christian school I taught at in Upland California. (Believe it or not, this song was recorded in a studio that used to be the dressing room for "Granny" of the Beverly Hillbillies.)
Written just a couple of years ago.
This song has a lot of meaning for me. I wrote it at a very difficult time in my liffe. It actually kind of carried me through those days. The lyrics are probably the best I have ever written.
This song may be the best song I have ever written. (If, of course, it is truly original.) This will only be determined as time goes by and more people hear it.
It is inspired by a poem of the same name that my father wrote. Below is a copy of that poem. (The original hangs on my wall)
I have a habit of taking some of my secular songs and converting them into praise songs. This song was originally done as a jazz instrumental called "Bring Back the Love". I decided the world needs praise songs more than nust another catchy jazz tune!
You recall the song at the top of this page, "Great Is Thy..." Well, this was the other song that I had recorded at the same time. Tessa sang both songs, but there were some technical difficulties with the recording so I did my own version (this version) much later.
The first few notes of this song are similar to another well known praise song, but it immediatly goes in a whole different direction, so I decided to keep in around.
One of my few strong beat songs.
Written around 2007. For a long time this song was at the top of the list for most views on YouTube for me.
Another of my songs that has had around 10,000 views on YouTube. We used to sing this song in our
I know that the Bible says we're supposed to boldly to the throne of grace. But have you ever felt so bad about your sins that you just feel you have to crawl up to God's back door, That's kind of what this song is about.
Another of my strong beat songs.
When I first wrote this song I thought of it as just sort of a "throw away" song. But then it started growing on me. Plus, the vocal track turned out to be one of the best I've ever done. So I'm keeping it around.
A little Jamaca style I guess. Hige view count though.
One of my deeper songs,
I wrote a little song a long time ago when I lived in Abilene, Texas. I called it "Secret Power". I turned that little tune into the instrumental bridge of this song.
